Michael Stewart, Owner / Instructor / Guide

Michael Stewart was born in the North Georgia Mountains and grew up in a family of hunters and fishermen. Mike cut his teeth fly fishing the 4000 miles of trout water in those spectacular mountains. He also hunted deer, grouse, woodcock, and quail throughout the scenic areas of North Georgia. Mike attended Mercer University receiving degrees in Philosophy & Political Science, and then joined the US Army as an Officer Candidate. It was in OCS at Ft. Benning that Mike met his wife of 20 years, Sarah. They have two children, Blair Delaney (15), and Wilson McDaniel (12). After service in the military, Mike and Sarah lived for 5 years in Colorado where they continued to fly fish and hunt. In the late 90's, they moved to the Gulf Coast of Alabama, where they both became avid saltwater fly fishers, adding a new dimension to their skills. Mike has owned and trained bird dogs since he was 12, and has specialized in Gordon Setters since 1982. Mike & Sarah opened Feather & Fly in Chattanooga in 2003, and it has quickly become one of the top fly fishing, wing shooting, and fine gun outfitters in the country.

Chris Zahnd, Senior Advisor / Instructor / Guide

Chris Zahnd is a legendary outdoorsman in the Chattanooga area. His father and mother were both tireless outdoorsmen, and Chris was dragged along with them as a baby on hunting and fishing trips. That early love for the outdoors has never left him. Chris has caught and released more trout than is imaginable. He is a very effective fly tyer and has developed a pattern we affectionately call the "Zahnd Secret Weapon." It's perhaps the best streamer pattern for trout ever developed. Chris also loves fly rods, and owns more than anyone else on the planet. He is a passionate bird and duck hunter and is a staunch Winchester 101 man. Chris is a patient and effective teacher of casting, a really fun and knowledgeable guide, and makes one hellava companion with which to share an adult beverage. He has great stories from 65 years of real outdoors experiences. Chris and his wife Jane have resided on top of Lookout Mountain their entire lives, and raised a wonderful family there. Make sure to meet Chris when you stop by Chattanooga; get him to share an adventure with you.
